      Hi cridge,

      Awesome question!
I honestly hope we can get faster and I think its possible, just maybe not in our lifetime. Sport science improves all the time and our knowledge of the human body improves all of the time. Eventually we’ll know what the perfect training programme for a sprinter is and we can fine tune it and the persons nutrition to get the best out of them.
      Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletics_at_the_1896_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_100_metres
These are the times for the first ever 100m sprint at the olympic games in 1896, 117 years ago. The fastest time was 12 seconds, which means Usain bolt has shaved off 2.5 seconds off this time. Thats huge when you think about it! So if we can shave off another 2.5 seconds in the next 100 years, we will see!
