Question: is fertility treatment 100% percent reliable? I.E could in not work, also is it still possible for the baby to still be born with a disability?
Fertility treatment is not 100% successful and is directly related to the age of the woman having the fertility treatment. Here is an example of how age affects the success rate (these are for the Clinic I work in):
Under 35: 32.5%
Age 35 – 37: 28.5%
Age 38 – 38: 21.1%
Age 40 – 42: 14.0%
Age 43 – 44: 6.0%
There is always a chance for the baby to be born with a disability but that chance is there for natural pregnancies too. If there is a genetic disorder in the family though, there is a test that can be done to identify the risk of the baby having the disorder.
