• Question: Do any of you have high hopes for Stem Cell Therapy?

      Definitely. There has been so much research and progress in recent years in terms of creating different cells, tissue and organs.

      We already have haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) to treat disorders such as leukaemia. Some research has also shown positive results in Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Multiple Sclerosis. I think there are scientists also working on creating motor neurones – hopefully a cure for Motor Neurone Disease will be discovered in the near future.

      The future for stem cells is exciting!

      I agree the potential is enormous although there are still some hurdles to overcome. Imagine if we could cure Parkinson’s, diabetes to name just two. The list is endless. Don’t forget we can already treat blood disorders and disorders of the immune system as well as growing new skin for skin grafts in badly burned patients. Other new treatments are just round the corner
