Great question. I work from home because although I trained as a scientist, and became a Biomedical Scientist, I now work as a Scientific Content Producer for an international Journal.
So I’m not your ‘classic scientist’. Meaning I don’t have to work in the lab and I won’t be doing experiments every day.
BUT, I absolutely love it and get to speak to a lot of scientists around the globe and learn about all of their incredible research.
To throw in my 2p, I work from home as a computational scientist. All of our experiments are done on supercomputers hosted in different parts of the world, which we connect to remotely. So it doesn’t matter if I’m connecting remotely from home or work! Some people at my work do have to go to site if they work in a lab on physical equipment.
@Ash was your question whether it’s easy to get a job where you are allowed to work from home, or whether working from home is easy?
If it’s the second one then: yes! I love working from home and it means less time and money on transport, so I have more time for the important things in life, like sleep! 😉
