When I was at school, I thought quite seriously about being a pilot, or else an engineer. But after studying physics at university I decided I wanted to keep doing that as a career, and in particular got really interested in the physics of climate change, which is what I now work on. I still think I would have enjoyed being a pilot, but given how bad flying is for the environment I don’t think I could change jobs now without feeling really guilty 😅

Many times… at school I loved maths and thought this is what I wanted to do. I also wanted to be a vet and an astronaut. During my A levels I started to really enjoy Physics so decided to take both Maths and Physics at University.
At University I started to enjoy Physics more than maths, but even then I was not sure what area of physics was my favourite! It started as Nuclear Physics, then Particle Physics and finally… when I was 20 I decided to do an Astronomy PhD, and I am now in my final year and have accepted a job to become a proper astronomer next year! 🙂

I haven’t really yet! I’ve just followed what I’m most interested in. But I’m coming to the end of my PhD now and will have to decide on what job I want to do after this which has me torn between doing just physics research and doing something that lets me do research and communication and maybe teaching in higher education.

Many many times, and never regretted it. I think the info is on my bio. 😄
