• Question: I went to a place called a ice station antarctica in the natural history museum and it was based on life in antarctica. we got put in a gigantic freezer to see how the weather was in antarctica. We also went to see how the houses were and they were really small. I thought that life tehre would be really cool. Is it really how it looks, Where do you stay, Is your house big. Do You get to see any extaordinary animals?

      Hi Helen,
Great that you visited ice station antarctica and liked it, it was designed by a friend of mine who spent two and half years living in Antarctica so it was pretty realistic. I live at a base for most of the time which means I have a big house that I share with about 50 other people. I share a room with one other girl – we have bunk beds and our own toilet and shower. Sometimes I go camping towards the south pole where it is colder and live in a tent for a week or two but I have a very thick sleeping bag and lots of warm clothes – did you try on any clothes at the museum?
My favourite animals here are the penguins by far – loads of different types but the Emperors with their chicks are the best (it’s just like March of the Penguins). I’ve also seen lots of seals including giant elephant seals with long trunks, and whales too. If you want to see more photos of penguins I took when I visited the colony, have a look at my blog here: http://frozen-cheese.blogspot.com/2007/10/glimpse-into-my-world.html
