Most of the time. I don’t think science jobs are any different from other jobs. Like all jobs there are boring and frustrating bits. I guess a difference in science is that you do feel you are part of a worldwide attempt to understand how the world works, even if the bit you are contributing is very small!
But I really love the variety of what I do and the freedom to plan my own day. But this would be true for many university teachers, not just science ones.
Yes, I love my job. What I really like is that most of the time I enjoy it so much that ir doesn’t really feel like a job. Some days it is really hard work but then it’s also really satisfying to see the results when you get a big job done. Like last week when I built a new mast with a big antenna that can detect lightning strikes happening around the world. That means that aircraft know where the storms are so they can avoid them. We can also use it to see how patterns of lightning are changing as the climate changes.
