• Question: what is the universe made of ?

      Hi @485hrtd24,
      Thank you for your interesting question. I’m not an astronomer so I had to look up my answer but, hopefully it makes sense.. Here goes….the universe is a huge wide open space and only a small part of it is currently known. Earth is a small, blue dot in the whole of the universe and I don’t even think that aliens would see us or the stars or planets because it is such a big space. The rest of the universe is made up of a mysterious substance known as dark matter because no one knows anything about it yet. Physicists are working hard to find out what dark matter is and hopefully we will all be able to know soon. It is such an interesting topic and sorry that I wasn’t able to give you a more in depth answer – maybe one of the other scientists in this zone will be able to help. Thanks, Gemma
