• Question: My granddad had quadruple heart bypass surgery. Is there a limit to how many bypasses a patient can have?

If you mean “how many, at the same time” I’d say six, but few people get that many. That’s because the main blood vessels covering the surface of the heart are three in number. The longest ones occasionally get two bypasses. The American TV star David Letterman had a quintuple bypass (5).
