Thank you for your very interesting question. As you said, scientists have found that babies have more brain cells than adults and scientists believe that this is because babies need more brain cells to learn lots of new information, in a very short period of time, once they are born and begin to develop. This means that their brains are smarter, faster and busier than an adult’s. Also, the brain cells that we are born with last our whole lifetime’s and it isn’t so much that adult’s have less, it’s just that if cells are lost, they are not replaced and so adult’s appear to have less cells over time.
