  This is when I realise I made one of the best choices of my life the day I decided to switch from Electrical Engineering to Biomedical Engineering^^. I have never “made” a phone but I once made a screen connected to a thermomether so that we could display temperature on it. I guess I would follow a similar process to make a phone from scratch…
  
  I think you should start from a very basic design with just an antenna (for signal reception so that you can communicate with people) and a screen with a few buttons (to interact with the phone). You would have to connect these to an electronic board and then find a way to program this board so that it does everything you ask/want it to perform.
  
  If you try this and it does work, please tell me as I need a new phone! 🙂
