Question: if you mixed salt, sand and water in a beaker and then you evaporated the water how would you seperate the salt and sand without them going missing?

  Hello nrtyx. I wouldn’t evaporate the water first.
  
  Salt is soluble, sand isn’t, so filter the mixture, THEN evaporate. The sand will be left in the filter, and the salt in the bowl once the water’s evaporated.

in that case how would you get all 3 ingredients back (with the same mass/weight)

  You’d need something to condense the water after it’s evaporated if you want to recover that.
