I sometimes feel like the input scientists provide is often overlooked which is a bit frustrating. Everyone knows and respects what doctors do in the NHS but very few (including some who work in the NHS) know anything about the work done by scientists in the NHS. I wouldn’t say I hate it but it can be frustrating at times
The negative results..or knowing that the experiment has failed…..other than that sometimes I have to teach a lot of students (like 500) and answering loads of queries so that can be difficult at times.
I’m not sure there is anything I really hate, but I don’t really enjoy doing financial stuff – things like budgeting, ordering things and related admin, as there are lots of rules and regulations and procedures to follow.
That scientists in the NHS are responsible for 80% of the diagnosis made, but most people don’t know what we do. So hopefully you will help with that and remember that scientists are an incredibly important part of the NHS!
