To become a Biomedical Scientist you need an honours degree in usually Biomedical Science that is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science.

Caroline Addey answered on 19 Jul 2023:
it will depend on what sort of scientist you want to be. Getting a degree and PhD in Biochemistry allowed my to do biological and medical research, and working a government agency to ensure the safety of medicines.

Depends on what you want to do. To be a cardiac physiologist you need a degree in healthcare science .

Clare Morrow answered on 19 Jul 2023:
For Biomedical science you need to study an accredited BSc Biomedical Science.
To become a clinical scientist you need to do a science degree and then apply for the scientist Training programme.
I went along winded route: BTech ONC, HNC (i qualified before it was a degree profession), BSc Biomedical Science, MSc Biomedical science and am now doing a PGCert. -

Depends what you want to do! For bioinformatics, some people will get a degree in a biology based subject and then a Masters in bioinformatics or genomics. Some people get on the job training!

Hannah Scholes answered on 19 Jul 2023:
It depends what you want to do. My original degree was a BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences, which allowed me to go into research and development with a pharmaceutical company. When I changed jobs and wanted to become a Biomedical Scientist, I had to check with the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS) and then “top up” my degree with a little bit more work to get a Graduate Certificate (part of a BSc degree) in Biomedical Sciences to make sure I’d learnt everything I needed to have covered for the job.
Usually, if you want to go into Biomedical Science, the easiest way is to do an IBMS accredited BSc Hons degree in Biomedical Science (this means that the IBMS has checked the course already, and you will have covered all the topics you need to become a biomedical scientist).

So I am a biomedical scientist and have (like others here) an IBMS accredited biomedical science degree. But it really depends what type of scientist you want to be.

Depends on the pathway of science that you choose . I did medicine course at university . After graduating as a doctor I did further training to specialise in psychiatry .
