      That’s a tricky one! 🤔
      If you’re going for the dictionary definition of it it’s “the state of being aware of and responsive to one’s surroundings”, and I suppose its all to do with brain activity. Neuroscientists can link certain kinds of brain activity with certain kinds of experience by using functional MRI scans ( also known as fMRI – a type of scan which can detect brain activity in real time). 🧠 We now know which kinds of brain activity are associated with feelings of hunger, pleasure, pain, etc., so I would say that’s consciousness as well!

      Love the question! The ability to think for ourselves – if you think about AI, it doesn’t truly think for itself, it relies on the information that has been fed into it.
