      Hey! We use lots of methods. In microbiology our most common is that we take whichever part of the body might be infected (say blood, urine, swab of a skin infection) and put it onto an agar plate to grow any bacteria that are there. Then we can use microscopes and other tests to work out what bacteria is there.
