I really enjoy my job. Some days can be very busy and a bit stressful, if I’m being completely honest – it depends what is going on elsewhere in the hospital. Saying that, though, I always come away from work knowing that I have done my absolute best to help the patients on the wards and in the wider community, and helped to save a few lives along the way, too!

Even though most people don’t know about Biomedical Scientists and what we do, we’re always here doing our very best for patient care. It’s a really rewarding job, and I love it!

I was going to write something very similar to what Hannah said but she has summed up my feelings perfectly (except I would change Medical Physics for Biomedical Science). There are always going to be things that are challenging in whatever work you do but I find my work incredibly rewarding. I wouldn’t choose to do anything else

Yes. My job involves both teaching and research 😃It also inspires next generation of young scientists. There are challenges when things don’t go as planned or the results don’t look good, but I look towards the positive side to make a difference. It has helped in saving lives of a lot of people around the world 🌍

I do like my job! It is rewarding and enjoyable. There are difficult days, because it can be busy and sometimes stressful, but the good days always outweigh the difficult ones.

I really do love what I do. Its really interesting, challenging and no two days are the same. Working with patients is great, and gives such variety to what we do. Whilst a serious job there is great teamwork from those I work with directly but also from people all around the hospital that we work with. Added to this the field of cardiac physiology, like so many areas in science, is always changing-moving forward so whilst everyday is not the same over the years what is known changes and we move to make sure that the care we provide also progresses.

I love my job ! I consider it a privilege helping people during a difficult period of their life and seeing them get better .
Being a psychiatrist also affords me the opportunity to take on other roles alongside my job for example – teaching and training of various professionals ( doctors, nurses, psychotherapist ) and students( medical, physician associates, midwifery ). I have been involved in research , curriculum design and a lecturer in a number of universities. I have been able to work on widening participation initiatives aimed at improving access to medical school for under represented groups.
My ability to take on a variety of roles makes my job interesting and rewarding.

I love my job! It’s really rewarding being able to use my skills to directly help patients with rare disease and cancer. The technology and innovations that we put in place are often in the news, and it’s really exciting to see.

I do really like my research yes! I think one of the good things about working in science is though there are good days and bad days like any job you’re usually still always focussed on a topic you care about and are interested in. I find anthropology really enjoyable and being able to use it in an area of health is very personally rewarding, so while I probably moan too much about some aspects of my work I can’t really see myself doing anything else!

Yes! The NHS pays less than graduate jobs in the private sector so most of us like something about it. I’ve committed 17 years to the NHS and wouldn’t do it if I didn’t get job satisfaction.

I do – although it can be stressful when there are deadlines to meet. It is rewarding to see patients getting the right results, and staff learning and growing into other roles.
