I chose my job because I had used some of the products that the company makes during my PhD and I was interested to see how it worked and to learn more new skills.

I was looking to move into the pharmaceutical industry after 11 years of working in forensics. I chose flu vaccine manufacturing because my husband also works in flu vaccine manufacturing (for a different company though) so it was was a good way to get into pharma as he was able to help me learn about the industry which helped me get the job I have. The specific job I do is very similar to one of the jobs I did in forensics which I really enjoyed (technical support for a manufacturing process) so that made my current job a good fit so that’s why I chose it.

I enjoyed lab practical classes at school and applying chemistry concepts to biological problems so ended up as a lab biochemist in academic research! 🙂

I get a good balance of being able to teach people about my area of work so that more people know about it and continue to find solutions to medical problems, and doing new, exciting research myself.
