The most fascinating diagnosis I gave was to the owner of a dog that turned out to have Lyme disease after getting bitten by ticks while going for walks in a Royal Park in London. Because of that, I got permission to collect ticks from the park and showed that they were carrying the Lyme disease bacterium.
I’ve had a few interesting cases but some of the most fascinating diagnosis was when I volunteered in Sierra Leone during the Ebola outbreak in 2015. There I spent 5 weeks diagnosing people with Ebola. It was one of the most worthwhile experiences I have ever had.
