Being a scientist can be exciting when you discover something new or are able to pass on knowledge to your students. It can also be challenging when experiments don’t go according to plan. It just depends on which type of work each person does.
It is fun to be a scientist. I get to use my hands and also machinery to work out answers to questions – I diagnose infections in people.
Sometimes, it can feel like you are a detective – you are given some clues and you need to do a few tests to work out the answer. I also like helping people.
It can be exciting, depending on the project, experiments and people you are working with. Especially if you find something out that is completely new or adds to current knowledge. Sometimes, it can be quite slow and frustrating though…
