NHS Clinical Scientists when newly qualified, earn around £41,000 per year rising to around £91,000 per year for a senior Consultant grade. There is a higher grade for Consultants who also lead a clinical service, of around £109,000 per year.

I get around £17k tax-free which is average for a PhD student and is definitely enough to live on, but it will be nice when it increases with a future job.

At my company the salary for junior research staff is £32-38000 and senior research staff is £42-54000. It really depends on where you work and how much experience you have. For me my salary is enough to pay my bills comfortably but it would be nice to have more money to spend of myself for things like holidays etc

I earn £31,000 a year plus a bonus. This is enough to comfortably live on but I would like to have more disposable income for things like holidays as living in a big city is expensive.

PhD was a stipend of £19,000 p.a. including London allowance. Starting wage as a postdocs was £33,000 I think and has been going up in increments each year since.

Money cannot buy happiness. So if you are happy in your job sometimes you dont mind getting paid less.
