I do! In fact, it’s actually one of the main reasons I applied to my job. I love to travel, I love science and I love to help people. I get to do all of these things as an outreach office ☺️

I’ve been very lucky to have worked in laboratories across Europe, Turkey, Israel, Russia, Thailand and the USA. But ts also been great to welcome scientists from many countries around the world to come and work in my own lab too. Experiencing other cultures is a real added bonus to science!

Sometimes- it depends on what I am working on. The company I work for has sites in the US and Australia so I may need to travel there to work on projects. We buy things from companies all over the world too so I have been to sites in Europe to inspect the labs were the things we buy are made. In my last company I traveled all over the US, Canada and Europe to give presentations on the products we made the experiments we had done to show what the products can do.

I studied in Australia and then came to the UK to do diagnostic science (ie work in a hospital lab). However I have a Scottish friend who works in research science (ie discovering things, generally in a university) and she has worked in Sierra Leone, Haiti, and the USA.

I have travelled to conferences in places like Mexico, Germany (several times), Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) and Portugal. I also worked for a couple of years in Munich, Germany. I’ve sent samples for collaborative experiments to places like Australia, USA, and throughout Europe too!
