• Question: what is the probability of the chicken surviving the trek across the road and living long?

      Depends on the road. If it tackles the M1 near Sheffield, not a hope!

      There is a roundabout near where I live (back home home) called the chicken roundabout where literally generations of chickens have lived. I think it helps that cars are scary and loud, I presume they survive on the road when they have to, doubt they go for very long treks though.

      The natural lifespan of a chicken is 6-8 years. Over 50 billion chickens are raised every year. Chickens for meat are killed at 6 to 12 weeks old. Chickens that lay eggs tend to live for around 2 years. The probability of any of them ever seeing a road is very very small.
