• Question: In the Big Bang theory, what existed before the Big Bang?

      It rather depends on which version of the theory you subscribe to. In inflation theories, our universe is a bubble within an infinite exponentially expanding space, which has always existed and always will exist. In extra-dimension theories, our universe has always existed, but time gets reset periodically when it collides with another universe in the extra dimension (no, seriously). In the original classic big bang, time itself is created in the big bang, so the question doesn’t have any real meaning.

      I don’t think anyone knows the answer to that question! There is lots of speculation but no real evidence based answers that I am aware of.
