It depends!! I usually get in to work at about 9.30am, unless I have a 9 o’clock meeting, but I try to avoid those! I very rarely leave before 6pm. Sometimes I’m working right up until the building closes at 7pm. Sometimes I need to be at the MRI scanner with my volunteers if they want to do my experiment but need to do it outside of work hours, so I can often be there until at least 9pm. Then when I get home I will sometimes need to spend an hour or two doing e-mails or reading a report or catching up on stuff. I really like that my job is varied because it means I don’t have the same routine day-in and day-out.

It really varies, today I was in at 8am and likely won’t leave until after 6pm. But its fairly flexible, generally work starts between 8 and 10 and will finish between 4-8.

Then there’s experiments, when we have a dedicated 5weeks on the laser systems. Then we are working to a schedule so the hours can step up a little bit during that time.
