Yes, I finished my PhD 3 years ago. It’s in developing and improving techniques that an MRI scanner uses to make measurements of the brain. I tried out some new ideas, improved some old ones and then put it all together to run a study looking at how a medicine can change brain activity.

I’m working on mine at the moment!

My PhD is based around developing a technique called electrospray deposition which we use to deposit molecules onto our samples in a vacuum chamber. The more broad research topic of our group is studying molecules on surfaces with the aim to better understand novel electrical devices like organic solar cells.

I’m currently working on mine, its looking into developing laser driven x-ray sources for use in industrial applications.

This ranges from the spectrum of emitted x-rays to their size of the source point, to detector technology, to better understanding the physics behind coupling laser energy to the electrons in a target. Its a fairly vague theme that allow me to specalise into exactly the area of interest I have.

Which at the moment is source characteristics, I want to make that point of emission smaller and less divergent!
