Question: why did you chose science as your job

I loved science since I was a kid and as I grew up, I realised that it was very important for me to love my job. That’s why I decided to pursue my passion for science. What I love the most about my job is that everyday there is something different to do, so it is never boring!

What is the most interesting thing you have ever reserched and what was it about.

During my PhD, I worked on a tiny single celled, microscopic parasitic animal (like a germ) that moves by swimming with the help of its tail (known as “flagella”). What was amazing about its flagella is that even after you kill it by adding soap, after adding some chemical nutrients, the tail of the dead animal would start moving! Flagella are amazing machines which aren’t well understood even till date.

The excitement of a discovery is the main reason why I decided to be a scientist. Also, I really enjoy writing scientific papers and am extremely thrilled everytime my papers are published in scientific journals!
