I would say 4 years initially. I started University at the age of 18 and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. At the age of 22 is when I would say I qualified as a trained scientist. I then completed a doctoral degree, which took a further 5 years – but allowed me to specialise in batteries and now I can call myself Dr.
