      That depends on how you define “scientist”. We are all always learning and discovering, and so we are all scientists at heart! But I started working as a scientist after university, when I started my PhD. This was 12 years ago, and I’m still a “young” early career scientist!

      I spent 6 years at university learning to be a scientist before I got my first job as a scientist in industry 33 years ago.

      Anyone can be a scientist from the beginning when we start doing some research work and exploring something new. I started working as scientist when I was in my PhD (5 years ago). So can be early career scientist and senior scientist after spending some years in development research.

      Anyone can be a scientist! I may class being a scientist since I started studying chemistry at university, then did a PhD and worked in industry for 2 years before starting my current research role. In total it’s almost 10 years

      I started studying science at university 7 years ago and after I finished in 2019 I started working as a research assistant. Last year I started my PhD. By doing a PhD I’m learning how to be a more independent scientist / researcher.

      I would say I have been a scientist since I first started studying chemistry at university…so that’s 5 years ago now! In that time I have spent 4 years at university, and almost one year in industry.
