In the air around us, there is an invisible gas called water vapour. Clouds form when there is too much water vapour for the air to hold. The water vapour turns into tiny droplets of liquid water. These droplets are so tiny they float in the air. The higher you go, the colder the air gets. Cold air high up cannot hold as much water vapour as warm air near the ground, so clouds form from the water droplets in the sky.
