One of my favourite experiments ever done is Mendel’s pea plant experiments to try and understand genetics. Through some fairly simple experiments using no fancy equipment – just a bit of gardening – he founded our modern understanding of genetics (what makes us us and how we inherit characteristics from our parents). That’s pretty neat..
I particularly like making homemade glowsticks at the moment (in a safe way of course :-)) as they are a very simple but interesting example of something called ‘chemiluminsence’ (i.e., they glow!). Its a great example because almost everyone has played with a glowstick at some point in there life!
