Gravity is the force that causes bodies of mass to be attracted towards each other. The bigger the mass, the greater the force it exerts on another body. That is why we are all attracted to the earth and don’t float away – the earth is the greatest body of mass near by us so we are drawn towards it. The full explanation for why gravity exists is quite mathematical and slightly beyond my primitive maths knowledge, but if you’re interested I suggest reading
