At GCSE level, I would say to work at the best of your ability, but do not worry too much about having to get the top grades. As long as you get good enough grades to study science at A-level, then it is fine. At A-level, it depends on what University you apply to, as each University and each course will have its own entry requirements. When I applied for Chemistry at York, it was BBB, but I think it has gone up now to AAB. (Don’t know much about other qualifications, such as the Baccalaureate though).
