Good question, as biofuels and electricity are both alternative forms of powering our cars. In my case, no it does not affect my research as I am looking at a way to make biofuels more efficiently. Indeed, both biofuels and electric or hybrid cars are already available and being used successfully in our world today. In the end, it will simply come down to which method is more efficient and cheapest – it is all about the money! The fact that we have two alternatives out there is fantastic in its own right, it shows how powerful and important science can be!
