This is a good question. I’m not sure if anyone knows what their future holds! I don’t think I will ever stop loving science though, so even if I do not carry on being a scientist doing research in a lab, I hope to have a job still related to science in some way.
And as we all know…not all scientists wear white coats!

Scientist is not a separate job, just by asking a few question you are a scientist as well. As long as you are curious about something happening around you and want to understand the phenomenon you are a scientist. I guess many of us are scientist without having the formal title. Till i die i will be asking questions, that means i will be a scientist :). Doesn’t matter what profession i am in.

Hmm tough question – I suspect the answer is yes unless I get a lot better at golf quickly!!! Based on recent form I suspect I will be a scientist for a long time!

I agree with Sankar on this one. I think no matter what I end up doing in the future, I will always be a scientist at heart. It is a way of thinking and constant desire to probe further and discover more about things.
In terms of career, I would like to stay in science definately for the forseeable future – but it’s very hard to predict what opportunities will come my way so I’ll just have to wait and see!

I also agree with Sankar – I will always be a scientist!
I am halfway through my PhD studies now and still need to focus on that. Afterwards, I would like a career in science, but I haven’t got a concrete plan so I will just have to see what happens! Having a science degree gives you lots of skills that can be used in all kinds of jobs, so if I change my mind I could easily do something else 🙂
