• Question: do you enjoy your job?

      Hello,

      Yes, I really enjoy what I’m doing. Just like everyone else, I can have days when I dont really feel like working, but that is usually because one of my experiments has gone wrong. On those days I either read scientific papers, go to seminars or have science discussions with my colleagues and just have a day away from the lab. The next day I’m usually ready to go back into the lab to try and figure out why the experiment went wrong! 😀

      Yes I really love my job 🙂 When I was studying I got to visit my current workplace and I thought it was so great I just had to get a job there! Now I have been here 6 months. I like it because I am constantly learning new things, every day is different. Sometimes I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing but then I will figure it out and be so pleased!

      Hi @coursework3, yes I enjoy my job- there’s free coffee and we have a swimming pool… I’m not going to pretend that my job isn’t difficult and frustrating or maybe even boring at times. But it’s the excitement that comes from these challenges, finding out new things, and trying to make a difference to our understanding of the world around us and our everyday lives that make it so worthwhile!

      Yes. I’m very lucky to work with cutting edge technology. The pace of change is such that we never stop learning.

      I LOVE my job! I get to do so many exciting things and travel the world. Last year I spent over 3 months in New Zealand or at sea. Every time I’ve been on a research cruise we have found a species that is new to science – how many people can say they have been there at the discovery of a new species? Of course, like everyone else I too have my bad days when something isn’t working and it has made me very frustrated or upset but in science even a bad day is better than most good days in other jobs!
