Hi – Thanks for your question! I always really liked science and especially biology at school, then when I finished school I decided to keep studying biology at university. At university you have the option to study a specific part of biology and I chose neuroscience because I found it the most interesting. Now I still work on a project related to the brain but I use a lot of what I learnt about genetics and molecular biology at university to help me with my project.

When I first arrived at University neuroscience was only a very small part of my course and I hadn’t really done anything on it in school other than the real basics.

But sitting in the neuroscience lectures was really interesting and understanding how the nervous system works basically explains how we see, feel and perceive our environment. It’s weird to think about but without our nervous system we’d just be a brain in a skull!

After my uni course finished I opted to do a neuroscience PhD project and it’s just gone from there really. It’s a really cool field of study.
