      Of the 375,000 new cancer cases in the UK every year between 2016 and 2018, 167,000 patients unfortunately die of cancer in a year. This is just under 50% of new diagnoses.

      I was not aware of the statistics on cancer until I saw this question and looked it up. Cancer Research UK says about 167 000 deaths every year. That is a sobering thought.
