      I assume you me stuff that burns and aliens blood is made up of, rather than anything else beacuse this is a good and wholesome questions session.

      originally acids were defined as tasting sour (wouldn’t have liked to do that experiment with concentrated hydrochloric acid!). its an odd definition but anything is acidic if it has more free hydrogen ions floating around than water, Even water (H2O) sometimes breaks down into its ions (just meaning charged) parts ( so H+ and OH-). Acids have lots of H+ beacuse they break down a lot better than water ( HCl -> H+ and Cl-).
