Question: what experiment would you do if you won the lottery

I’m not sure exactly what experiment I would do first but I do have a plan with some friends that if we win the lottery we are going to buy a desert island and start up a “Fantasy Science Island”. We can take as many breaks as we like, read and write on the beach and do any experiments we like.

I would probably focus on “gene therapy”. I did a short project on this during my degree in a lab working on Cystic Fibrosis -we were trying to put in a “new” healthy/working gene into children who have a “faulty” or broken gene so that they are no longer sick. It would be amazing if we could get this to work – replacing “broken” genes by an injection or by inhaler. It could cure so many genetic diseases. One day!
