To visit, or to live in? I’ve only ever lived in the US and UK. I loved the US – the wildlife, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the people, the space – but I couldn’t have stayed in the US forever because it never felt like home and the healthcare system scared me :S
I hear Canada has a lot of the good points of the US and the UK combined, but when I interviewed for a job in Toronto I didn’t get it.
To visit, Italy! I went to a conference in Turin last year, then went for a hike in the Alps with friends and the food and scenery (and wine) were amazing.
I loved Spain when I went there a couple years back, but I think that was just the effect of the Sunshine, and how awful our summers have been the last few years! I’ve never been but I’d love to visit Australia, though!
so far I’ve lived/worked in Zimbabwe, Canada and the UK. Each have there good bits and bad bits. Zimbabwe is beautiful, but life is very harsh there and its difficult to make a living. Canada was great, lots of space. The UK has been good to me, its where I’ve done most of my training as a scientist and met lots of brilliant people. I’m really enjoying Scotland at the moment.
