I’d go back to before Mendel, discover the rules of heredity, and then make sure Darwin knew about them, because if Darwin had bothered to read Mendel he would have been able to make a better case for evolution right from the start.

I would love to have thought up evolution! Kind of seems obvious now, but y’know taking Darwin’s place as one of the most recognised and reknowned scientists of all times, the start of a scientific revolution… that would be nice 🙂 But y’know, to be able to say that you changed the way everyone thought of themselves and the world around them – that would be… truely awesome.

The jet engine, it was such a cool idea, an engine that has only one moving part and can go at hundreds of miles an hour

I think that it would be Daniel Rutherford who discovered nitrogen by studying what gas was left after leaving a mouse (which eventually died) in a sealed flask, passing the gas from the flask through a carbon dioxide-absorbing substrate and proving what was left was a gas that would not support life or combustion. I like the idea of discovering an element!

…or the structure of DNA like watson and crick!
