      Hi there

In this country people tend to refer to Scene of Crimes Officers (SOCOs). My understanding is that whilst there can be some mundane work they often tend to find the work very challenging, with a broad range of aspects. They have to walk into a scene and work out what information can be gathered rather than making any assumptions. Occasionally it can be in unsafe areas and requires a strong stomach. Some of the scenes can be quite gruesome.
I understand it is quite a competitive field to get into and a lot of people have a hard science degree (such as physics, chemistry or biology).
It does sound fascinating that you may want to bear in mind that it is not always fantastically well-paid.
When you get a bit older you may be able to arrange some work experience with some SOCOs.

      Viv
