I think how our planet will respond to climate is as big if not bigger than Ebola and Cancer, – but do agree that it is not immediately obvious why! For example, lots of my research concerns deltas, the areas where rivers meet the sea. These areas a low lying (lot of them are less that 1 meter above sea level!) and are thus very vulnerable to sea-level rise and environmental change. They are also home to over 1 billion people and will be home to over 1.5 billions in the next 25 years. We need to be able to predict much better what will happen to these areas so that we can best plan and mitigate the effects of the changing climate and sea-level rise for these people.

It really is a big problem as we might need to move 1/8th of the worlds population and also feed them…
