      Usually when physicists say particles, they refer to fundamental particles, the bit that make up atoms and can’t be split into anything smaller. So atoms are bigger than particles, as atoms are made from particles.
      There are exceptions to this though. If instead of size, we think about mass (how heavy the particles are), then some particles, like the Higgs Boson, are much more massive than lighter atoms like hydrogen.
