GCSEs and A-Levels are certanly a good route into forensics. I was actually interested in psychology and did a degree in that subject along with linguistics. I then went on to do an MSc in how the brain processes information. I was also really interested in doing a PhD and teaching at uni. I found a subject that really intereseted me (to help eyewitnesses to create better evidence) and did that as a PhD–and have been working on ways to help eyewitnesses since!
I didn’t take a conventional route, I went right around the houses to get to where I am now! Hopefully, your path into forensics will be much more straightforward!
I did take A-levels but not the right ones for my degree 🙃. Fortunately, I managed to get onto my forensic degree as I was already a student at the university on a different course, so they allowed me to swap. Best decision I ever made!
Just goes to show you, you never know what’s round the corner and that there’s no such thing as making the wrong decision.
