Thankfully nobody has been arrested due to any mistakes that I have made…. but I can readily admit that mistakes can and do happen, although they are not common.

There are very strict procedures whereby any decisions have to be checked and validated by another expert before results are provided to police officers.

Identifications can also be challenged at court by independent experts.
