I love my job. There’s so much variety in what we do. So far today, I did some important paperwork (boooring); had a Skype meeting with two of my collaborators in India where we’re developing new disease diagnosis methods; checked some research results for a tool that I’m building to annotate anatomical images; met with another collaborator in Belfast to plan revisions to our grant application, which we use to get money for research; and met with a good friend and colleague in Oxford to deal with a data collection issue. This afternoon I’m doing some ground-work on a new project, prepping some teaching materials for my data science course that starts in 2 weeks, linking up my workstations to a new network setup and writing a document for planning hybrid university teaching. But first, I’ll put the kettle on…
This is an easy question to answer – yes! I can’t imagine doing anything else. Most people that know me say I’m so enthusiastic I need putting out with a fire extinguisher! 😆
Yes, very much so. It’s the variety that I love. I can be involved in teaching at uni, conducting an interview with an eyewitness, training police practitioners, helping out on a research project, or computer programming to improve the EvoFIT system. Each day is different, and so much fun!
