I am a PhD student at the Leverhulme Forensic Science Centre at the University of Dundee. I am currently looking at Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs within the general population. I enjoy watching football, listening to music and playing guitar.

I am from near Reading, England and went to university in Cambridge, England. I am PhD student at the Leverhulme Forensic Science Centre at the University of Dundee. I am currently looking at Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs within the general population. I enjoy watching football and supporting Leeds United and England, listening to various different genres of music and playing guitar. I also enjoy an occasional challenge and climbed up Ben Nevis (UK’s highest mountain) last year as I am based in Scotland at the moment.

My Work:

I try to detect Image and Perfomance Enhancing drugs in urine from the general population. Some of the drugs I look for, you may have heard of being used by Olympic Athletes.
My Typical Day:

I get to work at 9.30am, where I answer emails, write papers and do experiments in the lab. I then have lunch around 1pm and do some more of the same. I typically go home at 6pm.

Education:

I went to Garth Hill College in Bracknell, England where I studied A levels and did my GCSEs.

I then went to Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge where I studied for a bachelor’s degree in forensic science.

I was offered to continue my studies at Anglia Rusikin University once my course had finished and I started a research degree called a PhD in forenisc toxicology. Part way through the PhD my boss left for a new job in Dundee, Scotland and I followed. I am still doing my PhD.
