Definitely. If animals can evolve, why can’t we find out different ways to make foods?
I saw an awesome tv programme on this once. It was called the Bug Grub couple (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0911ydt). It was about the fact that insects were a more sustainable food source than meat. They put insects in loads of different foods and people said that actually said they liked the taste and they’d have it again.
Having said that, I’ve never eaten insects (deliberately – probably had eaten the odd one by mistake).
We’ve been “discovering” food for ages. Think about how different the wheat plant looked when we first got our hands on it 10,000 years ago. Now, it looks totally different, and could almost be considered a completely different plant to what it was then.
We also have genetic modification, which will be a really important tool to use, as it gets harder to grow enough food for the growing population, and food that is resilient (can withstand) to climate change.
Then, like Ali says, we can switch to insect diets when things get really tricky. It’s already a pretty big thing in some Asian countries.
And finally, there are alternatives to meat that would never have been thought possible, like lab grown burgers!
Food production is going to be a really big deal in the next couple of generations!

Absolutely! You can also mix foods if you don’t like the taste of one. It’s a good way to get veg in if you mix it with something else.
